Bathroom update

So I'm a little embarrassed to admit this- but Scott and I have been remodeling our master bathroom for close to 4 years.  It's been a mix of being burned out with house renovations, lack of time, frustration, finances and getting pregnant and having a baby (literally didn't work on it that whole year before she was born and a little after).

We initially were going to wait to update the master bath because we decided we could live with it.  It was ugly, but only the two of us would really be seeing it.  Then one day, we noticed a little water damage on some of the tiles.  Scott was going to just do a little fix, but when I came home from teaching a dance class I came home to the whole bathroom gutted.  So needless to say, the master bath got pushed very quickly to the top of the list.

Here is the Master Bath when we moved in.

It had this horrible 1980's brown tile and a shower that made you feel like you were stepping into a coffin every time you took a shower.

Once we had a clean slate (which I swear I took a picture of, but just can't find) we started designing the new bathroom.  We wanted a relaxing/spa like bathroom, so we picked out light ceramic tile and one of my favorite elements of the shower, river rock for the floor.  We also wanted to open up the shower, so we decided to make it a half wall instead of the coffin.

The tiling was completed first.

Here is a picture of the river rock shower floor.

Then came the walls.  Since there were probably 5 layers of wallpaper on the walls, we brought in a professional to resurface the walls and paint.

Next we tackled the cabinets.  Scott wanted to try his hand at cabinet making, so we drew up our plans, picked out our materials and he started.  (This is around the time we found out I was pregnant and had Fiona).

Scott made the shell for the cabinets, built the doors and drawers; while I sanded, stained, sealed and painted.

This past week he finally finished the cabinets.  We still have to fills some nail holes, but they are done and we couldn't be happier!!

So all there is left to do, is pick out the counters, have someone install the glass enclosure for the shower, and put in the base boards.  I can see the light! Alleluia!!
