Two!

Tuesday, Fiona turned two!  I have no idea how she got that old, but she is the sweetest, most lovable, silly girl I know.  My mom came up with the idea to take a yearly picture of her on her birthday and since we always have red wheat grass growing around this time for Easter, we added the words to it to help document the year. I absolutely love these pictures.

I'll share more from her painting birthday party with her friends soon.
Happy birthday, my sweet girl, we love you so much!

Our Easter

Good Monday Mourn! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter, ours was just what the doctor ordered.  Currently my husband is a recruit in the fire dept here in Raleigh (more on that later) AND he is still running his landscaping business. So needless to say, he has been scarce in these parts recently! Fiona and I had him to ourselves on Sunday and it was glorious! We hung out in our back yard the whole day, had a picnic, caught some rays and did a little gardening.  Unfortunately, it's back to the grind today.
Here are a few from our Easter photoshoot!
Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Easter Baskets!

I am very excited about Easter this year! Like I said before, last Easter really snuck up on me and I had nothing together.  After that, I made a vow to myself to make more memorable holidays with our little family.  I have rounded up some of the cutest Easter themed toys and books this year for Fiona's basket.  This post really should be in a Thrifty Thursday because I didn't spend more than $10 on her basket fillings!
I really didn't know where to start because it is hard to find small toys, that a 1 year old can't put then their mouth, yet can fit into a basket.  So I tried finding some Easter books I loved as a kid.  Who remembers Pat the Bunny?  I always loved that one growing up (especially feeling the Dad's stubble) weird, I know! So I threw that one in there, found some Egg shaped side walk chalk at Target(Yay warm weather!), finger Puppets and a adorable lamb (Fiona actually picked that one out but has since forgotten about it).  I might throw a piece of chocolate in there, or maybe I'll just wait for the Easter Bunny to do that one!

What are some of your go to Easter Basket treasures?
P.S. Happy April Fools!! XO

Thrifty Thursday: Easter Centerpiece

With Easter just a week and a half away, I've been trying to get the house ready by adding little touches of Spring here and there.  I don't know about y'all, but this Southern girl is ready for some warm weather and sunshine!  When looking for inspiration for Fiona's first birthday party, I found a tutorial to grow wheat grass.  I thought it would bring the perfect touch of spring to her party. What I didn't know at the time, was that it probably is the easiest and fastest plant you will ever grow!  In fact it is so easy, I decided to grow another batch of it for Easter.

What I didn't know at the time, was that it probably is the easiest and fastest plant you will ever grow!  In fact it is so easy, I decided to grow another batch of it for Easter.
Below are some instructions for how to grow it:

What you will need:
Red Wheat Berries (I bought mine at the grain counter at Whole Foods)
Soil
Waterproof container
Water

I soaked my berries in water overnight.
In the morning, they are noticeably
bigger and full of water.

I filled my container with soil, and planted the berries.
The above picture shows them before I covered them with soil.

I week of growth!!!

Like I said before, this stuff grows so fast!  The only downside of it, is the grass only lasts about 2 weeks.  We did trim the grass before Fiona's party, but around the 2 week mark, it started looking a little rough.  Hey, then you can just cut it and juice it!! Have fun with it by adding whatever you want.  Below is how I dressed it up for Fiona's party.

Happy Planting!!

Baby Style: Easter Dresses

One of my favorite memories growing up is picking out a new Easter dress. I always loved the flowery pastel colors. I was always a very frilly little girl, so picking out those beautiful fluffy dresses was always a highlight for me.
Last year at this time, we were just trying to make it through another day with a newborn that Easter snuck up on me and I hadn't picked out a dress for Fiona.  This year however, is another story! Girlfriend already has two that I'm completely obsessed with.  I snatched up the Raglan Flower Dress and the Eyelet dress a couple of weeks ago.  I probably got them a little early, but I was desperately needing some Spring time happiness in my life at that point in winter.  I'm planning to save the white Eyelet dress for pictures at the beach this summer, so I bought it a little big.  Here are some of my favorite Spring/Easter dresses this year for little girls. What are some of your favorites?

The other day we had this glorious 80 degree weather. I tried to take advantage of it to take some Easter picture for the grandparents. Unfortunately, this was the best one I got because Fiona wanted to play with the signs more than smile for the camera. Hopefully we will have another warm day to try again.
